Clear Float Glass

Float glass produced with the float technology constitutes 90% of the global glass market. In the production of float glass as well, the furnace is the heart of the enterprise, where the batch of raw materials is melted at temperatures over 1600°C. These ovens are among the most impressive industrial equipment with their size and continuous operation for more than 12 years. The process step after which the float technology is named is the molten tin baths where the glass coming out of the furnace is floated. Thanks to the molten tin bath, it is possible to produce glass plates with smoothness at almost atomic level. The monolithic glass strip taken out of the tin bath is cooled by a special temperature profile, proceeds to the cutting line, and here it is automatically cut at the desired dimensions. The collected plates can be used directly as well as they are converted into end-products by covering with thin film layers, which provide lamination, tempering, mirror application and energy insulation. Glass produced with float technology is also used extensively in the automotive industry, rail systems and maritime vehicles.

    Light Transmittance: This is the percentage of the light coming from the glass, which passes through the glass.

    Light Reflection (external): This is the percentage of the light coming from the glass, which is reflected back by the glass.

    Total Transmittance of Solar Energy: This is the percentage of the total solar energy coming onto the glass, which gets in. Lower total transmittance value for solar energy refers to better solar control.

    Thermal Transmittance: It is the criterion of thermal insulation on glass. Lower U value means better heat insulation and less heating-cooling costs.
